Scrum Poker Pro

Hey everybody, we're happy to announce the release of the donate version of our Simple Scrum Poker app.  Ironically, we're making things a little less simple by adding the ability to change your background and text colors.  Playing around with it in testing, it's actually pretty cool.  There's a pretty limited set of colors at the moment, but we're hoping from suggestions from our customers.  Maybe we could set up some themes so you could display your school colors during story pointing if there's interest.  As always, please let us know what you think, and thanks for considering Megtech!

CSV Stuff

Fridge Friend and Fridge Friend Lite 2.2 have just been posted.  Based on a user suggestion, we added the ability to export the data in Fridge Friend so you can use it outside your phone.  The export data option is available via the menu on the main screen.

This option will create a CSV (Comma Separated Value) file, and creates an email with the file as an attachment.  A CSV file is a versatile option that can easily be used in spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc.

This is just another example of the great user feedback we've received.  If you have something you'd like to see in one of our apps, just ask!

Another Fridge Friend Update

We're happy to announce the addition of bar code scanning to both the free and paid versions of Fridge Friend. One of the major challenges on a mobile device is data entry, and having the ability to scan a bar code to enter an item greatly speeds up the process.  We hope this feature will greatly enhance the user experience.  Please note that the free Barcode Scanner app is required to use this feature.  If you try to scan without the Scanner app installed, Fridge Friend will give you the option to download it.  Please let us know what you think, and happy Memorial Day!

Fridge Friend Update

We're excited to have just uploaded Fridge Friend v1.2.  In this version, we've added notifications to let you know when items have entered the Red Zone without having to open the app.  These alerts are controlled by a Preferences setting.

To enable alerts, check the "Use Alerts" preference.  Alert time is used to determine what time of the day the alerts will go off at.  This defaults to 12:00AM, but you can change it to whatever time would be most useful for you.  A notification will appear once per day when there are items in the Red Zone.  Check it out and let us know what you think!

Roadmap

Hi everybody, just wanted to check in with an update.  We feel it's a good idea to give occasional updates to let you know the direction we're heading with new development projects.  In the near future, we're looking to release a new budget manager app, as well as an update for Fridge Friend which will give the user the ability to get notifications when items enter the "red zone."  Please feel free to let us know what you think.  Thanks!

Leave Feedback!

As a developer, one of the things I find most challenging is designing apps that fit the needs of a broad range of people.  On most of the software projects I work on fill a more predetermined business need, which allows me to draw on my knowledge of the customer's process when making decisions.  Apps, on the other hand, are each their own new process!  As a result, it feels a bit like flying blind.

Obviously anytime I design an app, I try to make it as useful and efficient as I can.  However, what makes sense for me might not make sense for everybody else, or sometimes, I can just plain miss.  When that happens, it's really great to get feedback from users to let me know what's working, and what needs to be revisited.

The real point of this post is to ask for your help.  If there's a part of an app (or the whole thing!) that you love, let me.  If there's something that doesn't make sense, something you hate, or another feature that you'd like to see, I want to know that too.  You can leave feedback either through the ratings and comment on the Android Market, or you can email us directly at megtechapp@gmail.com.  Thanks for reading, and leave some feedback!

Welcome!

Hi everybody, we are very excited to welcome you to our blog!  We plan to use this space to post updates, news, tutorials and more on the applications we're developing for the Android platform.  We're looking forward to using this blog to deliver information that simply won't fit within the framework of the Android Market.  In addition, we feel that interaction in the end user is a vital part of the software development process, so we look forward to hearing from you!  Expect more posts soon!  In the mean time, feel free to check out our catalog of apps available on the Android Market.  Thanks for reading!
